She’s sweet, she’s spicy and she’s oh-so-sticky… hello, hot honey! For something with such a bougie price tag, it’s surprisingly simple to make – and did we mention, cheap and quick? Hot honey goes on absolutely everything, adding sweetness and heat wherever it lands. From pizza to pancakes, you’ll find a drizzle will definitely elevate your dishes. Whip it out at your next brunch, lunch or dinner to really wow some guests!
What you need
Ingredients
1 cup honey
2 tsp. chilli flakes
3 cloves garlic
1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
Pinch of salt
Preparation
Step 1
Put all the ingredients except the apple cider vinegar into a pan on medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
Step 2
Turn off heat and stir through apple cider vinegar.
Step 3
Store in an airtight jar.
✨ RECIPE NOTES ✨
- Chilli: Use as much or as little as you can handle; 1 tsp makes for a mild to medium honey. We like it hot so we tend to use two. Be mindful that the chilli does mellow out the longer it sits in the honey, so you may be able to go a little heavier on the chilli than you’d think. You can also use fresh chillies chopped up, if you prefer a stronger chilli flavour alongside the heat.
- Storage: Store this in an airtight jar in a cool, dark place for up to 3 weeks. If using fresh chillies, store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
